How ONE Person Can Make Some Difference in the World

During a time of “darkness”, I dived deeper into the journey of self-discovery, still “trying to better myself , attempting to brighten my candle (“What we learn in the darkness, we are to share in the light.”). Ask yourself these important questions: “What can I do today to better myself?” or “Is what I am doing now going to help me better myself?” Doing this leads to a sequence of purposeful ACTIONS. What really matters is the things I believe in and the things I pass on.

In order to change the world, I first needed to change myself. And now I know that I am a candle, and if I want my mirrors to reflect beautiful light, I have to shine that light.

If YOU can make some difference in the lives of just a few people whom you may touch in your daily encounters and each one of them in turn makes a difference in the lives of some more, then this spirit, this new consciousness will be passed on and spread like a virus…

and together we WILL make this world a better place.

1 + 1 + 1 = 11111111111… and so on (the process of synergy at work)…

Be the best person you can be and have great fun along the journey

“There are two ways of spreading light – to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.”

– Edith Wharton

YOU are the candle and we are the mirrors to reflect it. Together, we can spread the light. Together we will make this world a better place .

God, the Ultimate Source IS with you

As inspired by an article by Ronit Baras at

Ronit Baras is a life coach, educator, author, journalist, Justice of Peace and public speaker living in Brisbane, Australia, specializing in relationships and families and an expert on motivation for kids.

Be Happy in LIFE – life coaching.

Because the world is malleable. Life is not changed by movements, but by passionate individuals …acting persistently (with repeated small and seemingly insignificant actions. Like that 1000th hammer blow that finally cracks the large stone (that’s a metaphor, by the way!)

I truly believe that!

The world CAN change. We can help shape it for the better… but only if we really put our minds to it with passion and commitment.

Say to yourself: “I am a passionate humanitarian, who can make a difference in the world.”…

or whatever you really want to happen, to change… in your life… and even the world. It may be your life purpose, “reason for being” (not just to take up space on the planet , please!)

Write it, that statement of intent down, because that embeds it deeper into the subconscious mind. It really does work!

Really BELIEVE you can make a difference….and you WILL

Shine YOUR own bright light on the world, on humanity

“To build a better world,

although you are small,

just build a better you.”

“Success isn’t about how much money you make;

it’s about the difference you make in people’s lives.”

– Hilary Clinton

Shared by craig (“Information and Inspiration Distributer,Incorrigible Encourager and People-builder”)

“Rather than aiming at success, try to be a person of value ( through helping meet the needs of others)”

– “not such a Mr goody-goody two shoes” (as he’s lost the other one!)

One song can spark a moment
One flower can wake a dream
One tree can start a forest
One bird can herald spring

One smile begins friendship
One handclasp lifts a soul
One star can guide a ship at the sea
One word can frame a goal

One vote can change a nation
One sunbeam lights a room
One candle wipes all the darkness
One laugh will conquer gloom

One step must start each journey
One word must start each prayer
One hope will raise our spirits
One touch can show you care

One voice can speak with wisdom
One heart can know what’s true
One life can make a difference
You see it’s up to you

– poet maryam kazmi

About the submitter:

The author likes (rather loves) to share information and insights with a “dash or two” of humour to encourage others to be all they are capable of being. In his various writings he hopes to promote better understanding across countries and cultures, striving in some small way to break down social, cultural, religious, economic and political barriers. Craig truly believes that whilst we should celebrate our differences, what we share is way more important than what divides us.

Let not our different beliefs set us apart as human beings, but rather let the Spirit of our shared humanity be what defines and unites us as common citizens of our planet.”

“Together, one mind, one soul, one small step at a time, at a time, let’s encourage, impact, uplift and perhaps even inspire the world.”

“It was always seems impossible….
until it gets done.”
– Nelson Mandela

Few (of us) will have the greatness to bend history itself, but each of us can work to change a small portion of events. It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man (or woman) stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, (she or) he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”
the powerful and greatly inspiring words of Robert F. Kennedy (with my little insertions in brackets)

“Instead of the limits of borders (of countries and of our minds) let us and our leaders expand our sense of possibility… and together let’s look at building bridges to distant horizons, far and great. Lord, help us all lift our eyes a little higher.”

When (or perhaps if ever) you arrive in heaven, let faith and love be the wings that carried you there.”
– as adapted from the inspiring words of Jonathan Edwards, former minister in New England, Massachusetts

“The Greatest Race: Living by (with) faith, hope and love is the highest podium any person can reach, God’s podium that anyone stand on.”

– craig

Thanks, dearest mom, your spirit will live on…forever

“There are two ways of spreading light – to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.”

– Edith Wharton

“If you think you’re too small to have an impact, try going to bed with a mosquito.”

– Anita Roddick, founder of the Bodyshop in the UK

Jesus himself said: You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)

“If a man is called to be a street-sweeper,
he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted,
    or Beethoven composed music, or
    Shakespeare wrote poetry.
He should sweep streets so well
that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say,
here lived a great street sweeper
    who did his job well.”
