CHAPTER ONE: THE DAWN OF HOPE

“Willy Vlautin tells a story of resilience and hope , even if it’s merely a glimmer amid despair and misfortune. Charley’s hard-luck tale is a celebration of sorts of the human spirit’s tenacity, writes Steve Walker .

Charley’s tale is one of resilience. He is never daunted by the scale or nature of the difficulties that confront him, never sickened by the depravity that surrounds him. Underneath this almost crushing weight there is hope. It may only be a tiny spark, but it exists and it is that flicker that keeps the characters going. The novel is a celebration – albeit a bleak one – of the human spirit’s powers of perseverance.”

“The spring of hope is universal, eternal and will never run dry.”

THE FOUR CANDLES

The Four Candles burned slowly. Their Ambience was so soft you could hear them speak…
The first candle said, “I Am
Peace, but these days, nobody wants to keep me lit.”
Then
Peace’s flame slowly diminishes and goes out completely.
The second candle says, “I Am
Faith, but these days, I am no longer indispensable.”
Then
Faith’s flame slowly diminishes and goes out completely.
Sadly the third candle spoke, “I Am Love and I haven’t the strength to stay lit any longer.” “People put me aside and don’t understand my importance. They even forget to love those who are nearest to them.”
And waiting no longer, Love goes out completely.
Suddenly…
A child enters the room and sees the three candles no longer burning.
The child begins to cry, “Why are you not burning? You are supposed to stay lit until the end.”
Then the Fourth Candle spoke gently to the little boy, “Don’t be afraid, for I Am Hope, and while I still burn, we can re-light the other candles.”
With Shining eyes the child took the Candle of Hope and lit the other three candles.
Never let the Flame of Hope go out of your life.
With Hope, no matter how bad things look and are…
Peace, Faith and Love can Shine

THE WRITER
Craig has a ‘
passion‘ for writing books that tell stories about people doing positive things in this often so hard, sometimes unkind world, occasionally so cruel, yet always amazing world He loves ‘telling tales’, sharing true stories that leave the reader feeling uplifted, empowered and perhaps hopefully even inspired.
Craig is currently writing ‘To The End of the Rainbow’ (this manuscript).

“Damon Galgut is an impressive writer, who writes perceptively about the South African situation with a universal perspective.”

“It might be hard for you to understand this being an outsider; but South Africa holds the souls of its sons and daughters in an almost inescapable gasp. History cast all of us in a strange and gripping drama, but I had deserted the stage. I had no idea what my role was, and felt I would never be whole until I found out!”
“I didn’t learn about the paradox by living in South Africa’s white suburbs; I learnt about it on the police beat.”
– Rian Malan

“To live in Africa, you must know what it’s like to die in Africa.”
– Ernest Hemingway

“It’s a celebration of a man’s unique vision, a vision which reaches out and shines, touching with magic the drama of life across it’s limitless horizons.”

THE CHOICE
Posted in Books (NEW BOOKS), TO THE END OF THE RAINBOW | Tagged choices, Craig Lock, end, THE CHOICE, To The End of the Rainbow

And every time c came to a cross-roads in his “rather eventful” life (and they were many of them, key intersections, life crises and time to make major decisions, choices on what path to follow, that would have significant impact on the way his life unfolded. So c followed his instinct, gut feeling, the line of least resistance, heart, whatever you may wish to call it. It really was a battle between the mind and the heart… and his heart ALWAYS won!
So c chose the highest path, “the road less travelled”.
And so c carried on writing… and here it is!

“The path (the mind) chooses the route you are travelling on; but, most importantly, the heart determines the direction. Just keep moving… one step at a time in the right direction through following your heart.. and one sunny day you’ll get there… to the end, the Source of the rainbow.”

SPLENDOUR (THE END)

Posted in Books (NEW BOOKS), TO THE END OF THE RAINBOW | Tagged books, Craig Lock, South Africa, The End of the Rainbow, To The End of the Rainbow

The two bitter adversaries, sworn enemies for so many years clasped and shook hands, firmly; then embraced each other warmly. They raised each others hands to the heavens. Resplendent were the bright beams of forgiveness for past deeds, evil deeds and grace that shone forth.

And overhead, gently breaking over the pitch black horizon, in grandiose splendour, the golden early morning sun announced the coming of a beautiful new day…one filled with great insight and brilliant light in a new glorious dawn. Resplendent in the bright glory of God, a bright morning star overhead to guide these two leaders of the twentieth century and their lives .. forever.

    Thanks for the follow/link/like/reblog/comment and/or kind thought(s)

    Hi

CAN’T KEEP UP…BUT THANKS FOR THE “THANX”

I’ve had many many hundreds of thousands (“zillions”) of comments on my various other WordPress blogs at https://craigsblogs.wordpress.com/2011/09/09/craigs-list-of-blogs-updated-sept-2011/
in recent years …true!) …a few of my blogs went “balistically viral” a few years back.

Obsessive or WHAT! Am really pleased you are enjoying my writings, as the reason I write is to share. However I am unable to keep up with the comments and was spending entire days just on replies on my various blog pages.

Though I’m rather “driven”, I still get really, really fatigued (there’s a few books there). so sorry can’t reply individually to all you good people scattered around the planet, but DO try to read as many as possible daily (and even moderate a few when I get a “mo”), I got swamped with comments on my various blogs, so have had to close them off on all of my blogs, except for one or two of particular interest to me.

Sorry and hope you can understand.
